Welcome back to Blackboard News You Can Use, your brief monthly newsletter to help you promote student success through MATC’s web-based learning environment, Blackboard Learn. In this edition, we provide a few reminders about end of the semester tasks and a few updates.

Final Grades are Due by Friday, May 25th 5:00 PM CST
Per the Registrar’s Office, please submit final course grades by May 25th 5:00 PM CST. After this time, the Registrar’s Office will make final grading submission temporarily unavailable.
During the timeframe that grading is available, faculty may choose to submit final grades from Blackboard to INFOnline using the ILP Integration tool located within their courses. All faculty may use this convenient tool if desired. To learn more about using this tool, view our video tutorials. Additional information about this tool is available in the FAQ.

Routine Blackboard Update to Occur Friday, May 25th After 6 PM CST

After the final grading period closes, Blackboard will undergo routine maintenance to update security features, correct known issues, and add requested enhancements to improve teaching and learning online. The update process will take approximately 24 hours to complete with no expected downtime.
We will be using the same major version of Blackboard as we do currently, updating from Blackboard 9.1 version 3300 to Blackboard 9.1 version 3400. No major changes to Blackboard’s navigation or tools will occur.


At the end of each semester, instructors teaching within Blackboard must perform a series of tasks called the End of the Semester Process. This process is helpful for preserving a record of an instructor’s course content, Grade Center, and student work in an Archive file.

A Friendly Reminder About Printing Services

Did you know that you can send your classroom handouts e.g., syllabi to Print Services?
Print requests from instructors can be sent to print services through interoffice mail, dropped off in person Monday – Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., placed in the drop box after hours or sent via email at printservices@matc.edu, 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Print Services is located at the Downtown Milwaukee Campus in Room M141 and provide print services for the Mequon, Oak Creek, West Allis and Downtown Campuses. Contact Print Services at 414-297-6878.

Spring 2018 End of Semester Course Surveys

Please urge your students to complete a course evaluation for your course. Students have received an email with a link to the evaluation, and they have a “Take Survey button” on the homepage of the Blackboard site for your course.

The evaluations remain open until midnight on May 21.

Reminder: Respondus LockDown Browser Advanced Webinar

LockDown Browser

Attend a special training webinar tomorrow that focuses on the advanced settings and features of LockDown Browser. A Respondus product specialist will show how to allow ebooks, spreadsheets and calculators during an online test.
