I am pleased to announce the college is launching a free workshop series titled
Diversity Dialogues presented by MATC“Diversity Dialogues” next Saturday, November 12. The workshop will be held at Washington High School, 2525 N. Sherman Boulevard in Milwaukee.
Faculty members from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences will lead discussions about various aspects of diversity and effects on our neighborhoods, state, region, and nation. The series will be held on the 2nd Saturday of each month through May 2017 from 10 a.m. to Noon.
Shortly after the tragic events that shook the Sherman Park neighborhood in August, Sociology instructor Nichole Todd reached out to several colleagues with the suggestion that the college use the “Introduction to Diversity Studies” as a model for an ongoing, community-wide discussion that could be a catalyst to transform lives and our community. School of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Sadique Isahaku and several School of Liberal Arts and Sciences instructors and staff members have shepherded the project.
It is my hope that these monthly discussions will lead to substantive changes, not just in Sherman Park, but all throughout Milwaukee. Please help us promote the conversations by sharing information about Diversity Dialogues and the linked flyer.
