The college has an incredible inventory of innovative technologies to enhance teaching and learning, but it is difficult for faculty to find the time to explore these technologies and implement into a curriculum. This workshop helps bridge that gap. Participants will design their own curriculum specific project using the technology of their choice. This will be accomplished with the assistance and guidance of “technology mentors”. Participants will also review pedagogical best practices for instruction with new technologies. This FQAS course can be completed for “renewal” credit.
ZERD 012: Technology Tool Shop II
This advanced technology course will scaffold from the concepts explored in Technology Tool Shop I. Participants will continue to build upon their curriculum-specific project or choose a new project to explore, using the technology of their choice. This will be accomplished with the assistance and guidance of “technology mentors”. Participants will also review pedagogical best practices for instruction with new technologies.
MATC has begun a 1 year pilot of the Echo 360 Active Learning Platform, a tool for making instruction more efficient and student learning experiences more effective. Echo 360 is a comprehensive tool that allows you to upload a presentation, record lecture capture video, and poll students with a built in student response system. The Faculty Innovation Center is sponsoring an ECHO 360 workshop for faculty on Tuesday, Sept 22 at 10:30 am – 11:30 am in M201a. In this one hour session, faculty support liaison Mernathan Sykes will demonstrate how Echo 360 can be used to:
Provide interactive learning activities
Plan for online quizzing and direct student feedback
Engage students with multimedia content using the lecture capture
Review student activity using data analysis features
Faculty who need an overview of using Blackboard (Bb) to organize course content and communicate with their students are encouraged to attend these free 1 hour workshop sessions at their local campus. No registration is required.
