Per MATC’s Closed Caption Policy and Quality Matters best practices for instruction, faculty who provide instructional videos to students must ensure that they are accompanied by closed captions that describe the video’s content. Faculty who produce their own instructional videos are encouraged to use their MATC YouTube accounts to host and caption their videos using AI-assisted technology.
For non-captioned videos that faculty did not develop themselves, faculty must contact the publisher or copyright owner for assistance. Alternatively, faculty may select a replacement video from the approved video resources listed in the Video Accessibility Resources Guide.
Per the college’s policy, text transcripts of a video’s content are not an acceptable replacement for closed captions.
